Hannah’s Prayers

Explanation of the 2nd Chapter of the 1st Book of Samuel.

Jan. 11th, 1812.

‘And Hannah prayed and said, my heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord; my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.’

The Spirit of Truth.

“Here was Hannah’s prayer and thanksgiving, only for a Son, because for a long time she had been barren, and had no Child; but see how great was her thanksgiving only to have a Child, that must die like other men. Now if her rejoicing was so great to only have a temporal Son, how much greater must be your rejoicing to look on him who was born for the salvation of men, and to bring in the redemption of man. Here the rejoicing is much greater than that of Hannah, and for much greater than Samuel did I become flesh and dwell with men; but now I shall come to Hannah’s words. ‘Talk no more so exceeding proudly, let not arrogancy come out of your mouth, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed, the bows of the mighty are broken.’ Here discern from Hannah, how she had been provoked by her adversaries, mocked and derided by them, because she had no Child; and they judged she was barren, and unfruitful, which in their days was judged as an Affliction from the Lord. But Children were counted a blessing, so that when the blessing came to her, to have A Son, it was more proved to be from the Lord, than the children of the other wife, who mocked her, though she had not been in favour with the Lord. Therefore Hannah wisely reproved her of the arrogant speeches she had made before, and told her, the Lord was a God of knowledge, and by him actions were weighed; so that the Lord alone was her judge, and in his mercy had confounded those that wrongfully condemned her: so that their boasting could be no more. Here was a temporal thing concerning Hannah, who had been a woman of sorrow, because she had no child and was mocked by the other wife; but her sorrow was turned into great rejoicing. Here I have answered the temporal. But now I shall come to the Spiritual, and shew thee the likeness of woman from the fall, whose sorrows was brought on by the adversary of mankind, and sorrows have remained unto this day; but know when deliverance come, by the Promise that was made in the Fall, that is as much mocked and despised by man, then will they find the truth of Hannah’s words. The Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him all actions are weighed. All have been weighed from the beginning, and there is no rock for Man to trust to, but the rock of ages, from the beginning. The wisdom of man, and the power of man, and the rock they have set up in themselves, trusting in their Chariots, and their Horses, in the armour of flesh, that they shall gain the Victory thereby; all their rock they will find to fall and to be like the words of Hannah; the bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girt with strength.

“I shall explain the meaning of them that stumble, from the complaining of Hannah. She stumbled at first having no child, and being mocked increased her sorrow; but after, she was girded with strength, knowing her child was given her from the Lord, because she obtained it by prayer, after despairing of having a child; and so in like manner will thousands find the days before them. For though like Hannah, thousands are despised and mocked for their belief, that I shall come and visit my people and bring in their deliverance, yet at present it all appear like the barren womb, that had no Child. And therefore they that believed, stumbled for a while, because their deliverance is not yet come, and they bear the mockery of the world; as Hannah did, before my time was come to visit her, and make her rejoice over her Enemies, and those that despised her, for being barren. And in that perfect likeness, of what was to her temporal, they will find it now to be Spiritual; and then they will be able to rejoice as She rejoiced, and to be girt with strength in the Lord. Therefore I brought words to thee, when A likeness, of shadow, appeared, that ye might first see her sorrow, in A temporal sense, before the rejoicing came to her. For in this likeness I told thee all things would begin at first, and what persecution thou hast to go through; what scorn and contempt thou hast to go through; what thou would meet with in the world, before my wondrous working begin to appear; that I shall turn thy sorrows into rejoicing. But thou sayest in thy heart, that rejoicing that will come to thee, is to bid the world Adieu, when thou hast seen the Glory of a better world; this is the thoughts of thy heart, and to thine own thoughts, I shall leave thee, and come to Believers. Will not their sorrows be turned into joy, when all my wondrous working begin, strong to appear, and they see the great prospect of all my promises set before them, and many begin to be fulfilled? For I now tell thee, what is a shadow to thee, is to them that truly believe. Have not the believers the same persecution and mockery to bear from the unbelieving world, as thou hast had? Then know, if they go through the one in thy likeness, they will enjoy the other, whether in this world or that which is to come. So let them discern from Hannah, what was the first, and the last; and how the bows of the Mighty men were broken which she spoke of; and thou hast been pondering in thy heart, what could be the meaning of her words, that the bows of the mighty men, should be broken by her having A son, because thou hast discerned her sayings, they are broken. I shall explain to thee the meaning of her words: it was not the Nations, nor the greatness of the people, as men in war, which she means was broken; but it was the greatness, and boasting of the other wife, and her sons, that judged they should be all, in all, as Hannah had no Child; how great was their boasting, they may judge from her words when she had A son, as well as the other. Then now their bows are all broken, that they had so maliciously aimed at her; this was the meaning of Hannah’s words, in a temporal sense. But I shall shew thee the meaning in a Spiritual sense; the bows of the mighty men will be broken, and their strength will fail, because they will see my decrees are firmly fixed. As I have told thee to cast down and to raise up, to wound and to heal, to kill and make alive; which meaneth, I shall wound the nations, and cut them down before I begin to raise them up. And know what I have told thee, by sword and Famine, great Plague, and Pestilence, I shall kill to make alive, that the living may lay it to heart, and remember to turn unto the Lord: Then I have told thee the remnant, will be made alive in me. 1st Sam. 2nd ch. 8th verse. ‘The pillars of the earth are the Lord’s and he hath set the world upon them, the adversaries of the Lord, shall be broken in pieces, out of Heaven shall he thunder upon them, the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth, and he shall give strength unto his King, and exalt the horn of his anointed.’ Here are words that thou cannot understand, what Hannah could not mean; as thou hast discerned from the Scriptures, they had no King in Israel at that time, and she could not mean a heathen King, to be called the Lord’s or his anointed. To thy thoughts I shall answer: Hannah’s Prayer and petitions were first answered by giving her a Son and Prophet; therefore the Spirit of Prophecy was given to her that a King would be given from the Lord, as his anointed, to be King over all the Earth, and his horn should be exalted. Therefore I tell thee, in this they had no understanding of her words; and yet it was A prophecy that stands for the end, and a strong Prophecy given, because at that time they had no king; and therefore I brought thee to words that were spoken in the Scriptures, that thou mayest discern at this time, what were the Prophecies in the Chapters, from whence they were taken. And so I tell thee, from these words that Hannah spoke they will find they are Hastening on to be fulfilled. Here I shall leave thee for the present.”

Warnings Before the End

Ms. January 11, 1812.

The Spirit of Truth.

“These chapters (See Rev. 5, and Rev. 22) I have answered thee already, and let men discern from them what the end is to be, and what I told thee in the beginning what my visitation upon the earth was for—to bring in the fulfilment of the Scriptures—which the Scriptures testify a time shall come for the earth to know the Lord. But let men discern from the chapters how prophecies are spoken of the end, and let men discern from the last chapter when it is spoken of my coming quickly. Alpha and Omega is the beginning and the end, the first and the last, and then let them discern the Spirit, and whosoever will may take the water of life freely. Here are thy prophecies left on record to shew mankind plainly that the end is not to come before the warning, therefore it is impossible for men to prove my Bible clear or the fulfilment, before I have visited by my Spirit to warn of My coming. Here I have shewn thee from the visions how they stand on record that shewed thee in the beginning, and how the end will be like what I told thee; but had I not gone on according to the visions, then there would be room for men to mock, but as I have begun according to my words, they will find I shall go on to make an end, and bring in the tree of life to man.” (See 1 Thess. 5:19).

Satan’s Binding is Near

Ms. January 11, 1812.

The Spirit of Truth.

“This I shall answer thee from Rev. 20. Satan will be bound and chained down, that he may deceive the nations no more, for his time shall be no longer till a thousand years are expired. And then, I tell thee, his time will never be long enough to cause all these sins and sorrows, and to work enmity in the hearts of men against their Creator. Then time will be no longer for him to work in mankind for me to bring all these evils again upon men, which they are daily provoking me to do, and therefore, I have told thee I have begun, and shall go on till I have made a final end of sin, for, as I shewed thee in the vision, the strength of the bird whose feathers thou couldest neither pluck nor break, so, I tell thee, My decrees stand as firm as the pillars of Heaven.” (See Rev. 11:17).

The Visitation and the Scriptures in One Likeness

Ms. January 11, 1812.

See Rev. 19:7.

The Spirit of Truth.

“But how could men be glad and rejoice to give honour to the Lamb, that the marriage of the Lamb was come to unite all hearts to him, and to destroy the author of evil that goeth on to deceive the nations? This, I tell thee, could not be without the Spirit of Prophecy, which is the testimony of Jesus, and that testimony I must give by the visitation of my Spirit, as I said in my Gospel. Here let men discern in what likeness of my Visitation at first and the Scriptures stand together, and let them weigh it with what hath followed. And now I shall answer thee from the miracles I permitted Satan to shew thee what he would do upon the earth, and now come to Revelation 12:12. And this wrath I permitted them to shew thee in the beginning. Know, at first, I permitted him to shew thee what arts he used to deceive mankind, and in what manner he whirled them up and down, that they had no foundation to stand upon. And now, I ask mankind, what foundation they have to stand upon to believe in me or my Gospel, or the words of my disciples, if they believe l shall never fulfil them? Or what belief can they put in the Prophets that they were visited by the God of Truth, if they believe the truth of his words will never be fulfilled? Therefore I ordered thee first to bring forward the Prophets, what was spoken to thee of the end, and compare it with my Gospel; but now I have brought thee to the Revelations to shew mankind what the end will be. If men have eyes to see, and hearts to understand, they must discern the end is at hand from my visitation to warn thee in the beginning what was hastening on to be fulfilled, and then let them discern what I told thee was the power given to Buonaparte to fulfil the Revelations, and let them see how this has gone on.”

The Visitation Fulfils the Scriptures

Ms. January 11, 1812.

The Spirit of Truth.

“Let men discern in the beginning for what ends I created man, and how I promised all to be good; then let men discern in what manner the Scriptures stand, and how I have pronounced all shall be good in the end, that all nations, kindreds, and people shall remember, and turn unto the Lord, and all that have breath shall praise my name, that every knee shall bow to me, that evil shall be cut off from the earth, that the righteous shall rejoice in the God of their salvation, and the wicked shall be trodden down to be as ashes under their feet; and now discern, from the Revelations what will be the rejoicing of those who are longing for my coming. Now, I ask mankind, how the nations could be angry at this rejoicing in heaven, if the news was not brought upon the earth to be made known amongst mankind? Therefore, however great men despise the visitation of my Spirit, yet the Scriptures could never be fulfilled before the visitation of my Spirit came to warn them; and now discern the words before thee, ‘In the days of the voice of the seventh angel.’ ”

The Seventh Angel

Ms. January 11, 1812.

The Spirit of Truth.

“Neither will I cast off the strong desire and petition of those that are longing for my coming to establish righteousness in the earth. The sea shall be laden with ships. Now come to the vision of the seas. That shall break in pieces, and thousands shall launch into the deep, and a third part of the creatures which were in the sea and had life died, and the third part of the ships were destroyed; but in the days of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.”

Revelation is a Book to be Revealed

Ms. January 11, 1812.

The Spirit of Truth.

“Now I shall answer thee from the Revelations. I ordered thee, first, to bring together the words of the Prophets and my Gospel, where thou seest any likeness of the words I spoke to them in the beginning, or the likeness of the vision that I shewed thee in dreams, for thee to discern the chapter through, and which thou hast discerned from the Prophets and my Gospel, how these chapters speak of the end. But know, I have told thee from the Revelations it is a book to be revealed and explained by the Spirit of God, which never can be explained by the wisdom of man. Now let men discern from the Revelations what was the vision I shewed thee. When I told thee the night was far spent and the day was at hand, I shewed thee the heavens opening, and the armies which were in heaven following; and this, I told thee, should go on until I made an end, to have the heathen for my inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for my possession. And know what I told thee was the Lamb to unite all nations together as one shepherd—that I should be the Shepherd of the whole. Here let men discern the chapters, and compare it with the vision, and what I warned thee the end should be.”

The Visitation Warns of the End

Ms. January 12, 1812.

The Spirit of Truth.

“From these words I shall answer thee, and let them that reprove answer, how men that rejoice in the Lord to give glory unto his name shall be enabled to say all nations shall come and worship before thee, that his judgments are made manifest, without a warning being given what the judgments are that are threatened to bring in the end, and bring in all nations to worship the Lord? This cannot be answered by men who boast of their own worldly wisdom, saying, there is nothing hath happened but what hath been in all ages, and what they expect will continue to future ages; then what can they answer? Are my judgments to be made manifest to bring all nations to worship the Lord? This is impossible to be answered by man, for, without the visitation of my Spirit to warn them what the judgments are, and why they shall come upon the sons of men to make them know there is a God who dwelleth in the heavens above, and will draw all men to him, or cut them off to go with their leader, and claim the kingdom to be my own, to establish righteousness and peace on earth without the warning being given, and the judgments begin to be fulfilled, no man can be assured to say that a time draweth near when all nations shall worship before the Lord. But I shall shew thee from the Revelations that this knowledge must come from man, to be able to say the time is at hand, from the visitation of my Spirit, and the warnings that I have given of what is coming upon the earth to bring in the end.”
